Top Tips to Make Sure You’re Ready for Your Sailing Holiday

By MedSailors Crew published on 9 November 2015

Once your sailing holiday is booked, you can really begin to get excited about your time away. But in order to avoid any last-minute hiccups, it is worth following these tips to ensure you have the best time possible.

First things first: you should consider securing the currency needed for your chosen destination. Make sure when picking up your money that you are given it in a range of denominations; bear in mind that smaller businesses will not always have the cash to offer change for larger notes. Of course, you can also use your debit or credit cards abroad, but you should be aware of any charges incurred when doing so.

Once your money is in place, make sure your passport is ready to go. If you find that your passport needs renewing, don’t panic; there are fast-track services for those who need their passport sooner rather than later.

In addition to your passport, it is worth taking the time to get yourself an EHIC card. It stands for European Health Insurance Card, and although it is not essential in order to travel abroad, it can provide some all-important peace of mind during your holiday.

Remember, though, that you will need holiday insurance in addition to your EHIC card. Make sure that your insurance is appropriate for a sailing holiday, and then you can relax and look forward to your time abroad.
