Visiting Poros When Sailing in Greece

By MedSailors Crew published on 21 October 2015

Only an hour from Athens, the island of Poros is incredibly popular with visitors and locals alike. Showcasing all that is great about the natural beauty of the Greek islands, Poros is famed for its lush green scenery and sparkling blue waters.

Sailing in Greece allows any holiday-goer to really explore the many coves and bays on Poros, but two of the most popular beaches are Askeli and the beautifully named Love Bay. Both surrounded by greenery and benefiting from gentle winds, the two beaches are a great place to either relax or indulge in some exhilarating water sports.

Love Bay (understandably a popular venue for weddings) has everything needed for a day on the shore. Sun lovers will find plenty of places to soak up the rays, whilst shelter is available under the many pine trees that frame the sandy beach. Local conservation work means that the beach is kept completely litter-free, and tourists can further enjoy their time here by visiting one of the snack bars in the vicinity.

The beach of Askeli offers plenty of water-sport activity but really comes into its own as the sunsets. If it’s cocktails and excitement that you are after, then Askeli will be the perfect place for you.
