When you are planning for your sailing holiday, the last thing you want to be worrying about is the budget. It’s important that you keep your hard-earned cash for your time abroad, and the airport can be an easy place to accidentally overspend. So here are some ways you can avoid parting with too much money before your adventure even begins.

Having fun on sailing holidays - Saving money

One thing to consider is your transport to the terminal itself. Yes, taking your car can be convenient, but there are costs to cover when it comes to long-term parking. Public transport is always the best bet here, and most airports are well served by buses and other ways of making the first part of your journey stress-free.

With plenty of choices when it comes to food and drink, it can be tempting to splurge whilst waiting for your flight to be called. It may not be very fashionable, but a simple, old-fashioned packed lunch can be just the thing to avoid high costs.

You should also make sure that you have arranged any foreign currency prior to travel. There are facilities to exchange money at most airports, but the rates on offer are not always the most favourable.

And last but not least, try not to fall into the trap of buying everything you see in duty free! Ask yourself whether you really need something before taking the plunge, and you will find yourself with plenty more to spend when you finally reach your destination.
