There really is no better way to enjoy the wonders of the Mediterranean than on a sailing holiday. Whether your destination is Croatia, Turkey or Greece, the freedom that such a holiday offers really is second to none.

If the idea appeals but the practicalities are something of a concern, rest assured that there really is nothing to worry about. In addition to having your own qualified skipper on board, your boat will come equipped with all the basics to get your holiday started. And following these simple tips will mean you are ready and prepared to make the most of your time away.

Of course, it is important that you are safe in the sun. The Mediterranean has one of the most welcoming climates of any holiday destination, so sun tan lotion is an absolute must – you don’t want to spend your vacation recovering from sunburn!

It is also important to bring the right set of clothes for your sailing break. Alongside flip-flops, sandals and the usual holiday footwear choices, you’ll need some shoes appropriate for being on deck. You might also want to bring something slightly warmer or even waterproof just in case there are stronger breezes after sunset.

The most important thing is to enjoy being on the seas! No one will be expecting you to be an expert, but if you want to take the opportunity to learn a little more about what it takes to be a sailor, there will never be a better time than under the sun of the Mediterranean.
