Braving the Saklikent Gorge on a Sailing Turkey Break
If you like mixing the relaxing aspects of a sailing Turkey holiday with something a little more adventurous, then the Saklikent Gorge in the south of the country might be just for you. It’s one of the area’s top attractions, and the excitement of the gorge is something that will live long in the memory.
If you do like the sound of the challenge, it is worth making the effort to get up early and beat the crowds. It can become very busy around midday, so if you want to enjoy the sights without feeling rushed, then be prepared for an early start.
In addition to this, you need to make sure you are properly equipped. The gorge is rewarding but challenging, so the usual holiday footwear of flip-flops simply will not do. In order to really make the most of your time there, sturdy sandals, well-made trainers or even lightweight hiking shoes are a must.
Finally, don’t be tempted to overload yourself with food, handbags and expensive cameras. The gorge and the waterfalls are understandably often wet and slippery, so you won’t be able to fully enjoy the experience if you are constantly worried about getting your designer handbag wet!
But if you think you are up for the challenge, you are in for a treat: the Saklikent Gorge really is one of Turkey’s must-see attractions.
