A perfect place to stop on any Croatia sailing break, the town of Korcula has something for all types of tourists. Built on a tradition of farming and fishing, the island and the town are now a perfect marriage of both Croatia old and Croatia new.

Sailing Croatian island destinations - Visiting towns

Although there is plenty to see and do on the island, a must-visit area is Korcula Old Town. Dating back to medieval times, the Old Town is a well-preserved walled city reaching down to the crystal-clear waters of the coast. It is a great place to simply wander and discover all that you can. The Old Town is built on a central main street from which numerous narrow streets and alleyways branch off, ready for intrepid tourists to explore.

Architecture enthusiasts will love the Italian influence on the original buildings, whilst food and drink lovers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to indulge in some local delicacies and traditional Croatian fare.

If you are travelling to Korcula in the summer months, you should make time to see the Moreska sword dance. One of the most memorable of Adriatic customs, this dramatic spectacle of music, dance and danger is a great way to round off a visit to Korcula.
