Found in the south of Croatia, the beautiful island of Vis is considered by many to be something of a jewel in the crown of the Adriatic coast. Much of its attraction lies in its near perfectly preserved streets and buildings which are monuments of the Croatia of the past. This is in part because of a lack of tourist-based development, but this does not mean that Vis offers anything but the warmest of welcomes to those touring its shores during a Croatia sailing break.

Sailing in Croatia - Island visits

Traditionally an island populated by both fishermen and wine-makers, these two characteristics remain a big part of life on Vis today. Its enviable position on the coast means it is the ideal place to sample some of Croatia’s most delicious seafood, caught by some of the country’s most experienced fishermen – and this can all be enjoyed whilst taking in some of the most beautiful scenery Vis has to offer.

Not only that, but your meal can be washed down with some traditional Vis white wine, which has a reputation the world over. The most sought-after variety is Vis Vugava, which is widely available on the island and a must-try for anyone on a sailing break.
