Discover Dubrovnik when you’re sailing Croatia
As you sail along the Adriatic Coast of Croatia, just at the southern tip you’ll find yourself near the town of Dubrovnik. This stunning location is popular with tourists, and is one of the Mediterranean’s most elite destinations, having hosted royalty, presidents and even popes so when you’re sailing Croatia, you’re travelling the same route as some legendary men and women.
You can walk around the walls of the old town and this comes highly recommended as you’ll take in some spectacular views along the way. The town is also renowned for its magnificent architecture. Don’t be mistaken into thinking that this involves dry, stuffy building after building… there really are some breathtaking sights to see. Monasteries and churches dating back centuries will give even the most hardened tourist an unmistakeable sense of place and history.
The beaches at Dubrovnik are extremely beautiful and also extremely popular. You can take a ferry to Lokrum Island if you want to escape from the crowds and enjoy a little more peace, taking a swim in the sea to cool down.
Once you’ve absorbed the culture, it’s time to move on to the more modern pastime of letting your hair down in the evening. Dubrovnik hosts an eclectic mix of nightclubs, bars, theatres and restaurants, and also holds a music and theatre festival in July and August each year.
