Don’t Miss Stari Grad When Sailing Croatia
Although it has been somewhat overshadowed by the rise in popularity of its near neighbour and party town Hvar, Stari Grad remains a wonderful example of what makes a sailing Croatia holiday such a brilliant getaway.
Much of Stari Grad’s appeal is in its cultural and historical traditions – lovers of architecture will be spoilt for choice when it comes to the buildings and settlements in the town, some of which date back hundreds and hundreds of years. In fact, Stari Grad can lay claim to being one of the oldest towns in all of Croatia, making it an absolute must-see.
Another reason that Stari Grad cannot be missed is the beautiful traditional food on offer in the area. With a super climate almost all year round, there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants offering outside seating to make the most of both the food and the location. Many of these establishments offer a truly traditional Croatian experience – from the medieval walls of the town’s architecture to rustic tables and chairs to the food itself, eating and drinking in Stari Grad will make you feel like you really belong.
With its wonderful food and welcoming atmosphere (in addition to its proximity to the hotspot of Hvar), Stari Grad really is somewhere with something for everyone.
