If romance is on the agenda, then a horse-drawn adventure around the island is a must. From the carriage you can admire the many architectural delights Spetses has to offer and stop off at one of the many sites which reflect the island’s proud naval tradition. If physical exertion is your idea of fun, then why not schedule a visit in April? At this time of the year, the island hosts the Spetsathlon, Greece’s largest triathlon. The event recognises the country’s Olympic heritage and significance.

But if your idea of a holiday is simply relaxing and soaking up the sun, rest assured that Spetses will not disappoint, and a Greece sailing break is the perfect way to reach some of the area’s most impressive sandy shores. On the south-eastern tip of the island lies Xylokeriza, a beautiful and secluded area only accessible by boat. Vrellos, on the western edge of the island, offers stunning views of Spetses’ pine forests. And Ayioi Anargyroi is the perfect place to stop is water sports are on the agenda.

One thing is for sure: a visit to Spetses will not disappoint.
