Planning the Perfect Sailing Holiday

A sailing holiday is a really luxurious option for getting away from it all. But even the most adventurous of travellers often like to know that they will feel at home in their holiday accommodation, so what should you remember to pack before embarking on the trip of a lifetime?

Going sailing - What to take with you

The best sailing companies will provide you with drinking water, breakfast and lunch in order to make your holiday as care-free as possible, but you might still want to bring a few extras in your luggage. For example, your favourite tea, coffee or soft drink – or perhaps something slightly stronger for those lazy evenings watching the sunset from on deck. If there is anything you feel you will really miss, make sure to remember to bring it with you.

It can be tempting to simply pack the holiday basics of flip-flops and swimwear, but remember that a boating holiday is slightly different. It is a good idea to make sure non-slip shoes are part of your holiday wardrobe, and including a lightweight jacket might be a comfort when the sea breeze picks up.

Lastly, if you need any specific medications or toiletries, it is best to get them prior to departure, as you don’t know whether they will be available when you are abroad.

It may seem that all this careful planning takes the fun and spontaneity out of the excitement of a holiday on the sea, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, the better you plan, the more you will enjoy your time sailing the Mediterranean Sea.
