Although Split is often the starting point for many a sailing Croatia adventure, it is worth using your time here to explore further afield. Take Trogir, for example – found only 12 miles from Split, this near perfectly preserved town is a must-see for anyone who wants to indulge in true Croatian culture.

Visiting Croatia - Town visits and other activities

With a perfect position on the Adriatic coast, the town of Trogir is steeped in nearly 3000 years of culture, tradition and history. With influences from the Romans to the Venetians and the Greeks, Trogir tells us much about the wonderful world of the Mediterranean. The town has the well-deserved nickname ‘The Stone Beauty’, and it is not hard to see why. With a range of churches, buildings and palaces reflecting its long cultural history, Trogir is the perfect place to start your Croatian adventure.

In addition to this, the area is incredibly warm and welcoming to visitors, with a long history of entertaining tourists. With over 100 eateries, bars and restaurants dotted around the town and its coast, there is something for every taste – there are cocktail bars, pizzerias and plenty of places offering traditional Croatian seafood.
Not only that, but the mild winter months and beautifully warm summers make both Trogir and Croatia the perfect place to visit all year round.
