Within easy reach of the lively fishing town of Kalkan, the Saklikent Gorge is one of Turkey’s must-see places. Its name means ‘Hidden City’, and the location really does offer some of the most spectacular natural scenery the country has to offer.
Touring Turkey - Exploring Saklikent Gorge
It’s a real oasis of calm, and the geography of the gorge means that even at the height of summer it offers a tranquil and cool place in which to relax and unwind. Even the entrance to the gorge is something of an adventure, as you will trek along the rock wall’s suspended pathway before coming face to face with the naturally occurring springs of the Saklikent waters.

Having come under the jurisdiction of the National Park authority in the 1990s, the gorge now offers a range of attractions to satisfy the needs of even the most demanding of tourists, including the obligatory gift shop. There is a wealth of bars and eateries, with many offering seating directly above the water itself. So if you want to make the most of a day trip during your Turkey sailing holiday, the Saklikent Gorge with its stunning scenery and trendy bars really should not be missed.
