Fethiye’s busy marina is the perfect setting for beginning an adventure sailing Turkey’s seas. But the town itself has plenty to offer too, and is well worth exploring if you have the time.

If you are all about the get-up-and-go, then you might consider a rock climb up to the famous Lycian tombs. They were formed from the rock itself, and the view from the tombs is unrivalled as it allows you to see every part of Fethiye at its best.

A more relaxed time can be had to wander the streets of the old town. Here souvenirs can be purchased and you can begin to get a real idea of Turkish life and culture. In addition to this, you might want to take advantage of the wonderful array of markets that Fethiye is home to. This offers a great opportunity to sample some local delicacies, purchase some keepsakes or simply marvel at the range of produce on show.

If all that rock climbing and shopping gets too much, a visit to one of Fethiye’s beaches could be the perfect solution. The beaches are well maintained and have plenty of facilities, and it will give you the chance to mix with the locals before embarking on your sailing adventure.
