It might seem ludicrous to spend part of a sun-drenched Turkey sailing holiday in a darkened chamber away from the outside world, but an authentic Hammam is something that many are unable to resist.
Sailing in Turkey - enjoy the traditional sights
Hammams are Turkey’s traditional steam rooms, and they are an integral part of the country’s culture. Although the experience is one that has been replicated in part worldwide, few can live up to a true Turkish bath. Based on a Roman design, these ancient pieces of architecture are the perfect places to relax and unwind.

Much more than your usual steam room, Hammams offer a range of treatments to refresh and rejuvenate the body, including massages and body scrubs. But be prepared: prudishness is not the order of the day here, so do not be surprised if you find yourself surrounded by plenty of flesh! Hammams are sociable places where everyone is simply there to relax in a tranquil environment, so leave any body hang-ups behind and just enjoy the tradition surrounding you.

And if you think an hour in a Hammam is too long to be away from the Turkish sun, some experts actually suggest that the steam treatments can protect your skin and prolong your tan long after the holiday is over.
