Hashtag Paradise: 6 Instagramable places you’ll encounter sailing in Croatia
Jumping off rocks into turquoise waters, messing around on inflatables, getting high on Vitamin D and bathing yourself in Vitamin Sea, racking up a tan, and caring about pretty much nothing — that pretty much sums up a trip sailing in Croatia. Ahh, adventurous escapism is the BEST. But did you even go on holiday if you didn’t post about it on Instagram?
No, chances are you didn’t.
So, just to prove how incredibly dreamy Croatia is both out at sea and on the mainland, here are some places you won’t want to miss while exploring on a trip sailing in Croatia. Plus a few simple yet effective tips to capture that great Insta shot. Get your filters at the ready… these places are thoroughly worthy of the ‘gram.
1. VELIKO JEZERO MLJET NATIONAL PARK
Nothing says you’re on holiday with a bestie or bae like a holding hand picture right? And this saltwater lake in Mljet National Park provides the perfect location to capture it.
2. HIDDEN BEACHES NEAR HVAR TOWN
Sometimes, you just have to drop a pin on Google Maps and go… even if you do end up on a nudist beach. This spot is just a short walk east of Pokonji dol Beach close to Hvar town. Not only is it adventure central getting there via a coastal path, but when you take a dip, you’ll be able to capture those essential submerged or surface shots.
3. ANCHOR DROP POINTS
Honestly, I have no idea where we dropped anchor. But wherever they were, name or no name they were the perfect spots to let loose and release all that adventure energy jumping off boats, attempting to get on inflatables and exploring on paddle boards.
4. DUSK N’ DAWN
There’s only so many angles you take a picture of a boat from (my favourite is it being in the background while jumping off it!) so capturing your temporary home in the dawn or dusk light adds that extra little something special for your Insta feed.
5. STARI GRAD
Just the name of this place is enough to inspire a photo sesh… not far from party central Hvar town this is where we parked up for a couple of nights. And getting intimate with the back streets is sure to lead to giant doors and quaint little alleyways for some of those ‘look how small I am against this’ shots.
6. MOUNT SRD, DUBROVNIK
The view from the trail descending Mount Srd after sundown Dubrovnik lit up below. No explanation needed, just take a torch, closed toe shoes and your adventurous spirit. Dreamy right?
