One of the country’s major cities and a popular place for tourists, Dubrovnik is a must-stop location for holiday makers who are making the most of sailing Croatia’s seas. But for those who are keen to see the sights without splashing the cash, here are some cheap and cheerful ways to make the most of what the city has to offer.
Typical of the country’s vibrant beach life, Banje is situated right next to Dubrovnik’s famed Old Town. The golden sand is a great place to relax, whilst there are plenty of drinking and dining options to suit during the warming heat of the day and as the sun begins to set.
Home to some of Dubrovnik’s most historically significant buildings, Luza Square is considered by many to be the heart of the city. A great starting place from which to explore streets both old and new, the square is central to Dubrovnik life.
Located in the centre of the city, Stradun is the place tourists flock to when they want to sample the delicacies of the Dalmatian coast. Although its history as a swamp – yes, a swamp – is less than enticing, the area is now abuzz with local shops and eateries. And if you don’t feel like spending your holiday cash, you can simply take in the views provided by Dubrovnik’s famous city walls.
