Taking In Dubrovnik When Sailing Croatia

Although a trip sailing Croatia’s seas is mainly about the beautiful blue water and everything else the coast has to offer, it is worth exploring what’s on the mainland too. As one of Croatia’s most important cities, Dubrovnik is a great place to visit if you want to soak up the country’s rich cultural traditions.

Croatian towns - See life in the city

The perfect place to start is by viewing the famous city walls of Dubrovnik. The walls are almost like a visual history of the city, showing changes and enhancements from throughout the last twelve centuries. An even better view of the walls – along with the terracotta building so indicative of Dubrovnik architecture – is to take a cable car ride above the city. From 1300 feet, you are given a perfect bird’s-eye view of both the city and the crystal-clear sea beyond.

If all that sight-seeing tires you out, Dubrovnik offers seemingly endless opportunities for enjoying both food and drink. As it’s at the heart of Croatian wine-making and distribution, sampling some of the local tipple is a must. And with beautiful fresh seafood on offer each and every day, choosing a restaurant on the side of the harbour is a great way to spend a long afternoon or an even longer evening.

This is only the tip of the iceberg – exploring Dubrovnik yourself is the best way to make the most of this wonderful city and all it has to offer.
